Canler & Son funeral services have been based in Fakenham since 1951.

We are a locally-owned, family-run, independent funeral home providing a personal, caring and professional service.

  • Collection and care of the deceased (including dressing and time in the Chapel of Rest), the provision of a coffin, hearse, bearers, and a funeral director.
  • Arranging a time and date for the service, liaising with all relevant third parties, for example medical professionals, churches, cemeteries, humanist celebrants, florists, and caterers.
  • Guidance on service format and options.
  • Information on Registration.
  • Help with ordering floral tributes and with handling donations given in lieu of flowers.

Guy Stratton, Funeral Director

Guy Stratton became a Funeral Director in 1991 having gained his NAFD diploma in Funeral Directing in the same year. He took over the running of Canler & Son in 1996. His aim has always been to provide a professional, caring, friendly service. He has a team around him at Canler & Son with many years’ experience in the business who share this same commitment.

Canler & Son

The Canler family moved to Fakenham in 1947 from Clacton when father and son Ralph and Ken Canler became joint managers at Fishers, a local builders.  In 1951, after taking over Colman’s Undertakers, they established Canler & Son Funeral Directors.

Ken Canler retired in 1986 and sold the business to local company Blyth & Sons Ltd of Sheringham.
